NM Plant to Receive $100 Million in Federal Backing for Development of Biofuel Technology

WASHINGTON - U.S. Senators Jeff Bingaman and Tom Udall applauded today's announcement that a planned biorefinery in Columbus, New Mexico, will receive a $50 million economic recovery grant and up to $54.5 million in guaranteed loans to build the facility and develop algae-based biofuels for use in jet fuel and diesel. Udall Honors Fallen NM Heroes on Senate Floor

WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Tom Udall, D-NM, today honored two New Mexico heroes who died recently in Iraq while serving their country with tribute remarks on the floor of the U.S. Senate. Army Corporal Anthony "Tony" Carrasco, 25, was born in Las Cruces and raised in Berino, graduating from Gadsden High School in 2003. Today we saw the Senate health reform bill strengthened with the inclusion of Senator Mikulski's Women's Health Amendment. MIT Economist Shows 20% Savings in Senate Health Reform Bill

MIT Economist Jonathan Gruber, PhD, presented an important report yesterday on how the Senate health insurance reform bill will reduce costs and improve coverage for Americans.
