WASHINGTON– Today, U.S. Senator Tom Udall (D-N.M.)issued the following statement on the passing of New Mexico State Representative Lorenzo “Larry” Larrañaga:
“Jill and I join people across New Mexico in mourning the passing of my friend Representative Larry Larrañaga and in extending our deepest sympathies to his wife, Charletta, and to his entire family. Larry’s life was truly a life of service, as a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and a committed legislator who put the well-being of New Mexico above divisive partisanship.
“Larry was always steadfast and true to his principles – and one of his most deeply-held principles was that we should always seek to work together, no matter our differences in political party or ideology. I was privileged to know Larry, and to be inspired by his dedicated work for the state we both love.
“Larry will be remembered for his integrity and his unwavering commitment to the people of New Mexico. He leaves behind an indelible mark on our state – and Larry’s legacy serves as a shining example for all of us in public service.”
